World Health Day is celebrated to mark the anniversary of the founding of World Health Organisation (WHO) annually on April 7th since 1950. WHO-a specialized organisation of the United Nations that is Concerned with international public health, which was established on 7th April, 1948 has played a leading role in the eradication of some diseases.


Each year, a theme is selected and the WHO organizes global and local events on the day related to the selected theme. The theme for 2016 World Health Day is "Halt the rise: beat diabetes". This day is assigned for individuals in every community to get involved in activities relating to the theme so as to lead to better health.
